NYC Student Initiative for AIDS, Inc. donated close to 5,000 $USD to ASHA for the 2004-2005 year. ASHA used the donation for its treatment programs.

ASHA's mission is to FIGHT AIDS, NOT PEOPLE.

At the ASHA Foundation, we believe in remedying the present in order to enjoy a more holistic tomorrow. Awareness is the first step towards stopping the HIV virus short in its devastating tracks. ASHA's primary aim, therefore, is to INSTRUCT, COUNSEL, TREAT and CARE.

ASHA's Mission Statement

  1. To build awareness about HIV / AIDS infection in the community.

  2. To provide HIV testing in a non-coercive and non-stigmatized environment.

  3. To provide counseling to HIV patients, their families & the community at large.

  4. To prepare children for the future by providing character based sex education in schools and colleges.

  5. To provide medical psychological and palliative care to people with HIV infection.

  6. To train and educate counselors, doctors, nurses & allied health professionals about HIV / AIDS.

In furthering our mission and objectives, a free HIV/AIDS clinic in Bangalore was established in July 1998. Patients with the HIV disease including pregnant mothers are treated here. Free medicine, healthcare and nutrition are also provided to their babies. Additionally, ASHA foundation has launched several projects with a view to decelerate the furious pace at which HIV is spreading in India.
